DSI-Workshop “How secure is Free/Open Source Software?“

On the 20th of April 2017, the Digital Science Institute (DSI) of the European School of Management and Technology (ESMT) in Berlin organised a workshop on the topic of the security of Free/Open Source Software (https://www.esmt.org/node/29103), in particular in comparison to propriety software. Part of this discussion is whether the differences in the process of software development between Free/Open Source Software and propriety software might influence the overall security of the programmes.

Invited were users, entrepreneurs, official representatives, developers and activists of the Free/Open Source and IT-security fields. The motivational presentations were given by Carl-Daniel Heilfinger (Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik), Matthias Kirschner (Free Software Foundation Europe), Michael Kranawetter (Microsoft Deutschland) und Kathrin Noack (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, project secUnity).
